What's Up With The Remakes?

I've noticed a lot of remakes out there lately.  The Smurfs are in a new movie, Scooby Doo has been in the box office more than he's been on television, and Charlie's Angels are coming back to tv.  It seems that Hollywood is always trying to bring something back.  Sometimes it turns out pretty good, I can't say I was disappointed by the A-Team, but most of these remakes just end up being kind of cheesy, look at the old gimmick type of stuff or they change so much stuff that it's nothing like the original.  Is Hollywood running out of new ideas?  Will the next movie to hit the big screen be a remake of  "Alf", or what about "Who's The Boss?", or even "The Fall Guy"?  I could see potential in all of those, but I am holding out a lot of hope for the new Muppets movie coming out pretty soon.  It sounds like they're going back to their roots!  At least with the Muppets it will be a new story line using the good old characters we already know with a few new ones added in.
